My Roommate

The Preaching Colleague

In Dentsu, I was left with no one (1 plump colleague who were always on diet, one boss who were almost 24/7 not around, 1 colleague who annoyed me the most and whom I blogged the most during my internship and I couldn't be eating with my guy supervisor right? Feels so odd...) but this colleague of mine to have lunch with almost daily. She is 24 years old, as young as me, and the friendliest among all, bringing me to different places to eat for lunch... She's really nice, but the thing is, unexpectedly, our usual topic is about Muslim and Islam. It wasn't me who talked about Islam, it was I who has to bare with the topic:

1. There are similarities between Islamic and Christianity. Both believe that the first person on earth is Adam and Eve (their Eve is known as Hawa).

2. Muslims believe the existence of Jesus but only Muhammad is the real prophet.

3. Muslims' dream place is Makkah which is the holiest meeting place in Islamic region.

4. Muslims were to behave holy during Ramadan month as this is the month when all evil spirits are tied up. And if one does not behave well, that means it comes from you yourself but not the devil. This including of having sex. Strictly no sex in Bulan Ramadan. (When 2 of my colleagues knew about it, they were so shocked about it..)

5. Al-Quran's wordings are Arabic. There are old school's and new school's. But the proper one will be the old school's. And many strong Muslims learn Arabic the language in order to understand the Al-Quran (their kind of bible). They believe that bible has some missing text and so Al-Quran is the complete version.

6. Arabic is not easy to learn. One needs to emphasize strongly on the intonation just like Chinese's pinyin. Once wrongly emphasized, the meaning will be different. It is a lot of inner breath exercise. The writing is from right to left, not left to write. And each dots placed brings different letters and words.

7. These words may sound familiar to you: (note: the spellings below is just a rough spelling)
* Alhamdulilah - all praises to God
usually use after eating, or whenever there are something blessed happening
* Insyaallah - if the God is willing
"Insyaalah I will see you there..."
* Sunnah - Prophet's behavior
Muslims tend to follow the Sunnah for they feel that the prophet's behavior is the holiest
* Ustaz- preacher

8. Female Muslims should at all times cover up all parts of body that is not at work. Hence, female Muslims should only show their faces and hands. The rest should be covered up for they should not attract unwanted attention, and this included making up. For some Arabians who even cover up their entire body except for their eyes is because there is a slight differences in believing. For them, they believe that it is necessary to cover up until their nose.

There are a lot more she shared with me. But these were the things that interest me the most. Sometimes I felt that she was a little too excited in sharing with me about Islamic that she has forgotten that I am a Christian. She even taught me Arabic, their alphabets, pronunciation, writing and shown me videos on Youtube. I showed less and less interest in the end to avoid any misunderstanding.

I may not be a strong Christian, but I know that there maybe many Gods in this world but there's only one God in my heart.

Anyhow, it was a lovely sharing and I get to understand more about Muslims and Islamic. Isn't that good, understanding one another?

My Bro's Schedule

Ever since I stop my internship at Dentsu, I wasn't left jobless. I was forced to memorize my brother's schedule for I become his part time driver.

Monday- Group study... with Melissa
Tuesday- Badminton... not with his guy friends but with Melissa
Wednesday & Thursday- tuition... with Melissa
Friday- librarian duty cum lunch... not with me nor my sis, but with Melissa
Saturday- badminton or anything else... not with family, but with Melissa
Sunday- church... yes, again, with Melissa

Conclusion: everyday with Melissa

Bet you're wondering who Melissa is. She's not related to my family at all, so now you know who she is...
For now, I don't blame him for not spending much time at home nor with us. I know he's a busy man...

Go get her bro! :)

Time to Twist Some Brain Juice

One day 3 friends went to rent a hotel room and they paid RM30 for the room, RM10 per person. But the manager decided to give them discount and paid them back RM5. He asked the bellboy to deliver the RM5 to them. On the way to the room, he secretly took RM2 and gave them RM3. Which means, each of them paid RM9, RM9 x 3 = RM27, plus the RM2 from the bellboy is only RM29. Where is the other RM1?

I was forced to answer this by Lily Thong early in the morning. And I want you all to suffer together with me :)

Chong Rangers

Team Name: Chong Rangers
Rangers: Rose Chong (Captain/ 24/7 mother)
Jensen Chong (Warrior)
Penny Chong (Nurse)
Evon Chong (Consultant/ Smallest member)
Formed date: 3 weeks ago

Tasks: to rescue puppies who rolled down from the hill behind our house, take care of them and give those injured treatment and lastly, send back to their mom

Number of puppies rescued: 7

Worst senario/s: A puppy which was cut by the bulb wires while rolling down but it ended up died because of the countless maggots inside its body despite washing its wounds and catching numerous maggots when we first saw it. It only managed to survive for few days...

Successful rescue/s: A puppy stuck onto the bulb wires halfway through rolling down. Took us 2 hours to rescue it. It had small holes like bee's hives around its stomach and again there were maggots inside. But this time, it managed to survive until today and its 'holes' were all recovered. We have now sent back to its mother but looks like we have to take it back, seeing the mom already left the place or can no longer recognize her daughter after missing it for a long time.

Result: Out of 7 children, 2 died, 4 successfully followed their mom and should be much much fatter and bigger now, 1 remained abandoned (still crying out for her mom).

Ranger to the rescue!! Using a net...

Saw the 'hole'? Penny even bought a pacifier for her to suck...

The one and only male out of the seven- Satu (Only one black spot on his white body)

So innocent!

Evon Chong- managed to assist in rescueing one puppy

Penny Chong- the doctor cum nurse who did research on how to take care of such young puppies and what will be the best for them

Rose Chong- A very extremely dedicated mother who is willing to sacrifice her house chores to feed them every 3 hours! Rescued most of the puppies

My favorite puppy- Kopi (as dark as coffee)

Trying to make her looks like a German Shepherd..LOL

Too bad Jensen didn't take any photos with them...

The injured one, and also the active one that tried to get out of the box a lot of times- Milo

Some looked fatter because some were given back to their mom, and rolled back again few days later. And the difference was few days' breastfeeding.

This wasn't the first time we found living creatures on our drain behind our house. It was as though they dropped from heaven. Last time we had a really huge tortoise rolling down from the hill, we suspect, and landing on our drain. It is miraculously alive till today in our ridiculously dirty green pond. It is also now the King of the Pond being the biggest in there.

Now, came rolling down 7 puppies... almost daily! It kept us busy throughout the week... we nearly ended up as full time nurses. I wonder what's next rolling down... can it be money?? ^^

Part time nurses' schedule:
Monday - Friday 9am - 6pm
Penny Chong (since she is damn free ever since she quit her job and preparing to further her studies in Taiwan, she said the puppies came just right on time...) and Rose Chong (she nearly abandon her house chores because of them, 24/7 taking care of them)
Monday - Friday 6pm - 10pm
Jensen Chong (since he is only free at night)
Weekends
Taken turns by Rose Chong, Me, Wey Lok and Tuan King (it's a must for him, don't care!)

Now that they are all back to their mom, we wonder how big they are now...

Anyway, if you need puppies' rescuer, feel free to contact us today!
Chong Rangers is ready to rescue the poor puppies anytime, anywhere! :)

It's all about her @^%!##@&@%#!! attitude

I talked to her just now and she totally ignored me, didn't even bother to look at me, or nod her head, and her eyes just fix to her laptop. I knew she heard what I said and again she chose to ignore as if I was talking crap. She only has this kind of attitude toward me. Why? Just because I did her thing wrongly, and that was the first time, it wasn't that big deal; or maybe because I'm such an inexperience intern who knows nuts about advertising!

She keeps asking me this question ever since she knew I'm leaving, "So, are you counting your days?" "Are you happy that you're leaving?"

and...

"I had an intern before and I allowed her to talk to the clients. She was good in handling clients and after that, she got hired."

What has this got to do with me? She loves to mention crap out of no where...

Yes, she has the brain, the authority, the knowledge, the experience, the money... fortunately, not the looks and body... she maybe perfect in advertising field but that doesn't mean she can have this kind of attitude.

She does not have the right attitude, the right personality, no moral, no humanity...
If I were to continue working for Dentsu, I'll have to report under her, 'Do you know that everyone has to report under me?' and my other colleague just gave me a good offer to stay back at Dentsu but I might just reject it because of her...

Last Friday was a friendly bowling tournament between the account servicing and clients. She was anti social and she kept complaining to me that goverment companies' events are expected. They only go for bowlings, karaoke sessions... whereas for Chinese companies for instance, they go for parties, wine drinking... (you can tell that she has a higher living standard)

She misses Chinese clients a lot and keeps complaining about Malay clients that they are stupid, but in order to please them, she has to think the same as them, as if she is not a Malay! She even did ugly faces to me while complaining...

At the end of the event, everyone shook one another's hands to say thank you. She dragged me out of the spot and a few seconds later, we were hiding behind a pole.

I asked, "What are we doing here?"
She said, "Hiding away from them?"
She continued, "Can you pretend like we're busy talking?"
My goodness, how rude can she be? I felt ashame hiding there pretending not to see the people passing by. And they are our clients!

After all, I thought I'm ok with her already but I was wrong and I'm still not used to her weird and arrogant attitude. Anyway I did not regret for not accompanying her that night, for she just didn't want to talk to any of them nor play bowling (even though her fingers were nicely wrapped, afraid that the balls might chip her precious nails...), except for the first time, she needed me so desperately.

Should I stay at Dentsu and suffer her weirdness or is there any OTHER better companies that I can go to?

current mood: work stress

Japanese Words

Some Japanese words are really meaningful:

映画 えいが movie
手袋 てぶくろ pocketbook
財布 さいふ wallet
書類 しょるい documents
一生懸命 いっしょうけんめい with all one's might

Even though these words are originally from Chinese, they bring different meaning and in Chinese, we don't use such words. If you know Chinese, you will know the meaning...
