Independent Films

I believe everyone's currently into Twilight the movie, I'm one of them too >< and I have been searching for more details about Twilight and got to know that Twilight is actually an independent movie by Summit Entertainment.

Let me briefly explain what independent films are, or some called it indie films...
They are films produced outside Hollywood studio system and most of them are from foreign countries. They are much more smaller in budget, their equipments are simpler ones and this goes to their editing softwares too...

Whereas for Summit Entertainment, it is orignally from America and it was founded in 1996. However, it only became fully independent in 2006 under the direction of former executive of Paramount Pictures- Rob Friedman.

A few films that were produced by them surprised me. This including Memento (2000); Step Up (2006) and it's amazing to see that the budget is only $12 million and its gross revenue hit up to $114,191,952 wow!unexpected...; P2 and Nim's Island.

Here you go! Just a lil information for every movie lovers :)

Fabregas- The Chosen One

The moment Tony Adams became captain for Arsenal, he was only 21 years of age. Since then, he remained as 'the' captain for Arsenal for 14 years and making new histories for Arsenal, having won 3 titles during his captaincy.

And now... it's my young idol's turn. Cesc Fabregas' debut captaincy was against Dynamo Kiev last Tuesday and he earned positive appraisals from Wenger. He will remain as Arsenal's skipper for tomorrow's giant clash against Chelsea. Can he prove to everyone one more time that he might be young but he is able to sustain the weight that has put on his shoulders? Can he, like Adams, rescue Arsenal and make history?

Arsenal vs Chelsea, tomorrow 12 midnight, let us Arsenal hope for the best!

Black Out

Today there was a blackout in one of the office's floors, and it was only this particular floor. Someone found out the reason and it was the basement's switches that caused the blackout.

After that, there was big red cross on some of the basement's switches. I didn't bother much and continue busy searching for extras' clothing in the wardrobe in the basement. After few hours of searching, I went out to find that the whole basement was empty and dark. Come to think of it, I'm quite brave huh... Anyway, I went to the switch hoping to on some lights. I avoided the ones with the cross and tried the others. Oh, finally got light! And I happily went to search for my things. After a few seconds, I heard someone shouting, 'Aiya!'

I was so slow to react to the loud sound, only after a few minutes did I realize that did upstairs just blackout? And yes, it was because of me and all the editors needed to stop their work. I quickly off the lights and pretended nothing happened...

Dirtiest Job

What I did today?
I slept in the car for almost half of the journey while both my colleagues were busy searching for location, cannot tahan at all! My eyelids just shut by itself, how sad...for your information, we were in the car for 4 hours!!

I only started exercising at 3.30pm after all my sleepings (which explains why my tummy is popping out), and the exercise is actually doing charity work. And the charity work is actually to clean up a big pile of rubbish that was left in an abandoned shophouse. And the shophouse is in Ijork (no idea where? Go google! Ok, it's near Genting, it's damn far!), it's an Indian village with palm estate surrounding it and this particular location is the main location for the independent film.

This place is seriously run down- no electricity, no water, toilet's broken, not much sunlight, no food around... all left was a big pile of rubbish and broken furnitures. That was why I needed to search for portable toilets, generator, catering, cleaning services' contacts just for this place. Honestly, you wouldn't want to clean up the place. It used to be a grocery shop where they sell all varities of stuff as seen in the pile of rubbish. There's canned food which were still well sealed, newspapers (dunno how many years ago), shoes, papers, wood, stationeries, and even baby milk powder, also untouched... You will be curious in what had happened to this place man! Anyway all these things are still in the process of rotting. There were worms, ants, cockroaches and even dried rat, and it's very very flatten!!! And for a split second, I thought under all this pile of rubbish there might be a dead body!!! As the place has an awful smell...

The worst thing was we only could use plastic bags to cover up our hands as we didn't have gloves... Anyway we collected a total of 25 big bags of rubbish, too bad I didn't take any pictures, if not you'll get to see the combination of blue and black rubbish bags, it's surprisingly quite nice... Oh ya, add on another rubbish, I put all my clothes into a separate plastic bag and I'm gonna categorize it as 'toxic'. I felt that I've brought back the whole world's bacteria... And even after 2 hours' of cleaning, we only manage to clear up 3 quarters of the rubbish and I have to go back and clean some more!!!

The question for today is, if you are a producer would you choose this place? But honestly, the place striked me when I first saw it. It really gives me the feel, it's exactly what the script visualizes. But come to think of it, you need to spend more money for transportation, for food, for generator, portable toilet, the security cause it's not a familiar territory etc etc...

Btw, this was my 1st time using a spade, for the sake of not using hand to do the dirtiest job on earth!!!

Thank You

I've casted 42 people altogether in 4 days and if they're looking for Chinese female, definitely I can qualify, cause I've already memorize all extra's script. I get to act along with all of them too. Oh well, yes, I'm bored now, so is Yen...and she complained that I crap too much, and she got influenced by me, she's actually talking irrationally too!!!

Hmmm..feeling pisang goreng now...wanna go buy now and tempt other people..ciao!

BO + Red= BORED

I'm being ffk-ed by so many talents today until I got nothing to do but to wait only..
I've blogged, I've rearranged my music file, I've checked my mail, I've finish reading the script, I've finish playing a game and I've even finish cutting both my finger and toe nails...and I'm still waiting...

I went out to see what's Yen's doing. Guess what, she was in bored.com. I never knew there's such website for boring people..LOL

10 more mins for the damn talent and I'm off to bank!

Getting Away from Home...

I am currently trying my best to save up my money. Staying outside is not easy I finally realize. Earning money is even tougher. I have to afford the rental myself, as I promised my parents that all they need to do is to cover up my petrol and living expenses which is only RM400 a month. My petrol is RM60 a week, that makes it RM240 a month and I left with only RM160 for food and other expenses. Imagine I spend RM120 for food, it will be only RM6 per day and I will be left with only RM40 for other expenses. Do bare in mind that I am not sure when I will get my pay, and also the pay might be only RM200, it's a sad thing. It's not easy at all living outside and not relying on your parents too much. I began to understand how most of my friends felt.

But I recently raised a question to my friend, saying that they are willing to spend a lot on food and other stuff like watching movies whenever they like etc. Because what I thought was you need to save up especially when you're living outside all by yourself and so far away from your family. She said when you're away from home for such a long period, you will not know what to eat, you will be tired of cooking everyday, it's either maggie mee or other few things only. I began to realize, probably it's time for me to fit into their shoes, it's time for me to know how's life away from home. While for the movie watching part and buying things you like regardless of the price ocassionally, I probably still need more time to understand but she told me that I will never understand...

However, I agree with her...

I will never understand, cause I'm not considered far away from home. I still can go back whenever I like as it's only half an hour away from my house, provided no jam la...And even though I'm far away from home, it will only be 2 months. Whereas the rest were already staying away from home for years...

Will I be like them some day? Giving up in saving money? Cause like what Ley Lynn said, at the end of the day, you will still end up having not enough money?

I became a Muslim

I became a Muslim

Nah, just for an hour...
I was asked to secure a location for the independent movie and it was a mosque.
I was adviced to bring a scarf along in case the people there want me to cover up.
Thank god I did bring one, I was told that I wore quite 'pendek' (for your information, I was wearing long sleeve and pants) and I was forced to wear a 'Jubah' and scarf (as 'tudung', both Malay wearings). I looked like a Muslim and people there couldn't tell that whether I am or I am not. I also think that I looked like a penguin with big 'jubah' and I didn't know how to wear a 'tudung' so it was kind of messy...

I had to wear 'panjang' and cover up every single part except for my face. But once I stepped out of the mosque, immediately I saw 3 tourists wearing mini skirts...

Anyway, good experience though, at least I get to know that no shaking hands or any contacts are allowed between any male and any female in their religion. Especially when it is a government place. Well, that was my first ever stepping into a mosque...

The Casting days...

I called up one of the talents, making sure that she is coming today, and a guy answered my call:
"Halo, halo!"
"Hi, is this XXX?"
"Halo, halo, tak dengar la!"
I spoke louder, "Boleh saya..."
He interrupted me with "Apa? Huh? Kuat sikit!"
I spoke even louder, starting to feel annoyed, "Boleh saya cakap dengan..."
He interrupted again!
"Tak boleh dengar la, apa? Halo!"
And suddenly a Malay lady's voice came in.
"Hello."
I got confused fpr a split second then only realized that the guy's voice was actually her caller ring tone...
I think there is lots of idiots outside who did exactly the same thing as me.

Today, I heard 2 great voices. Both 40 and above, amazing... My supervisor asked me to look for more older people, she said the people I auditioned were not old enough! I just don't feel like finding Ah Peks...oh well, life goes on...

Life in Red...

Don't ask me why I posted so many blogs in a day's time..cause I'm addicted to blogging..anyway I found out that none of it mentioned bout my current working life..so here it goes:

I'm currently having internship in Red Communications, my supervisor is an executive producer, so far I have not seen her work but I'm really eager to know...she took me in the first place is to get involve in an independent movie entitled "Karaoke". And the director was quite well known- Chris Chung.

I was really looking forward to work with them, the moment I confirmed working with them, I wanted to start work immediately. I was so looking forward. Probably becasue the company is really new and beautiful. I like the interior design and the color.

The first week was qutie a disappointing one. I mourned for not having things to do and waited every day for the moment to come by, the moment I will get on board into the same boat as my supervisor and team. I was really eager to learn and experience what it is like being invovled in a production as my supervisor promised me that I will be involved from the pre-production which is the planning part til post production (other interns followed out for shooting already). And my timing was really just right. I thought I had better opportunity to learn things here rather than in MYC (my previous internship co), cause apparently my timing was not right during that time. Most of the projects were already handed by the interns who went in earlier.

Anyway, I made a few small mistakes during the first week. I was so disappointed with myself that I can't even handle small stuff, no wonder my supervisor didn't give me much things to do. All I did was to (btw, her name is Mona Lisa, LOL, nah, it's without the Lisa) photocopy documents, read the script, did some transcript (which they called it editing, sounded so nice), did some research and callings etc. Of course, I had fun in assisting the casting part, but it wasn't my supervisor's project. I helped out in the casting because she didn't have anything for me to do. How sad...

I went scouting location in the first day with Mona and I grabbed my opportunity to ask whatever I can. I get to know a bit more about her and she told me to be prepared for she had scared away a few previous interns. She didn't know why but all she knew was they were either lazy or they put themselves as high as director's position. But that didn't convince me. Later that day, 2 more of my colleagues told me it will be really challenging having to work under Mona. Ask me if I was afraid. My answer was not quite, but I found it rather challenging and interesting. I will want to work even harder.

Honestly, anything regarding work will come first. I can push away everything just for work. Someone called me up for a shooting on Sunday and I promised straight away. However it was cancelled and my supervisor told me to enjoy my weekends while I still can...

She was right. My waiting and hardwork finally paid off. I am officially on board. She had me involved in a meeting for this project and I had my first shooting last Tuesday. I kind of replaced Mona in the shooting though it was really a small and casual shooting. At least, I get to prepare props and the production box which I found out that other interns do not have the chance to prepare it. It seemed easy, but trust me, searching for props, and the entire wardrobe for talents' clothes wasn't easy at all, it's tiring!!

Despite all the bad comments, I found out that Mona was quite nice, having her to be quite caring for me. She iron the talents' clothes herself while she forced me to have my breakfast (reached office 7am that day...) and she wished me good luck! Chuak sai ah! haha... She even gave me RM100 to buy stuff for the shooting and I only spend around RM20.

The shooting went well (please refer to the post "My Very First"). Special thanks to the NGs. And I'll have my second shooting next Monday, this time again I am preparing the props and production box. I also get to secure the location. There was one even bigger task for me which is casting extras. Casting was never easy especially when you will need to deal with so many different people. And the sad thing is I only get to choose ah-peks and aunties who are 30 and above. If I'm looking for younger ones, they will need to have the 'kampung' look. Which is quite sad la, it was torturing that I don't get to pick the good looking ones...And out of 10 aunties, only 1 pick up their phone. Memang aunties, better off without phones...so hard to contact them!

Last but not least, I get to design the crew tags!! Special thanks to Yang for teaching me a bit of Photoshop (cause I gave back to the lecturer half of what I learned XD). I always wanted to practice back how to use Photoshop but nothing motivated for me to do so until that day... Finally, I'm quite familiar with it now. Even Yang also not as expert as me liao.. LOL!! And Mona like my design, well, at least she didn't complain or ask me to change anything. Will upload it once it's finalized.

Probably I am the 'backup system' for this project, as in I'll need to be ready to prepare anything for the 'war' anytime. Probably that was why she let Yang to do the editing for the shoot I went. I was at first quite depressed and upset with the decision. Cause I was so free last week and she told me there was nothing much for me to do, but she gave other intern who is not under her to do editing.

Don't worry Yang, I begin to enjoy my working life now. It's getting busier and busier and I even need to work on a Saturday till 6pm! And so far, Mona really treated me quite nice. I think the most caring among all the supervisors? She waited for me that day to finish work (I finished at 10 something, and she waited). It is also very kind of her to make sure I'm doing the right thing and I really want to thank her for trusting me. I might be her best ever intern?? (I'm thinking way too far...)

I'm content with what I am doing in Red now. I prefer this way as I can try many different things rather than just doing transcript or in charge of just one thing. I believe I can learn more things during the actual shooting. So wish me luck! I'll pray hard that the entire shooting will turn out to be great and I will not do any mistakes. I might fall in love with this industry. Or should I say I'm afraid I'll fall in love with Red? I'm a Mar Comm student and I'm supposed to be in love with events!! NOOOOOO!!!!!

btw, I met a friend of mine, Effa in the office and too bad, I didn't have the chance to even say hi to her. And apparently, Mr Patrick (my former lecturer) was quite famous in Red Comm. He used to work there I guess. And my boss' son is studying in UCSI, no wonder Red loves UCSI so much. They hired 3 of us at the same time...

to all other interns, hope u're enjoying ur work so far :)

argh!! My dad just informed me that I missed out a wedding buffet! Damn!!!

Thierry Henry

I saw Thierry Henry during the Dodgeball competition!!!!!
He really can 'timbang' and it seems so easy for him, the ball simply just floated in the air..and he smiles like Henry, of course his skin is same as Henry...haha i kept watching him play, a bit crazy liao...too bad I didn't get his number or take his photo :( damn!

My Cute Roommate

Last week, she smashed a cockraoch and it died flat on the floor..in the middle of the night...and she didn't clear it..
That night, after scaring my roommates, a moth finally landed beside the cockraoch, finally found its loved one dying so horribly in the room...It laid beside the cockroach until next morning...how could u be so cruel, murderer?!

Yesterday we saw someone who look so alike with Victor Wong (pin guan), seriously damn alike, the glasses, the hairstyle, the face...except for his height..he couldn't be that short...

Anyway, I just simply tested her, telling and pointing to her that Victor Wong is here. She got so freaking panicked and fell half way to the ground, as if she was fainting. Then she asked, "Oh my god, it's him! What am I supposed to do???"

Seriously, if you saw someone famous, will you ask "what am I supposed to do??" in the first place? Anyway, she was really confused at that moment whether to run over to him and get his signature...

Dear Eunice Au,

The cockroach is still there exactly at the same posture and position, can you please bury it so that it can rest in peace?? And also that might not be Victor Wong, seriously...but I like all your excitements and you're damn damn damn funny which I might sue you for giving me a stomach ache!

from,
ur dearest producer cum roomie
and I swear I will not give u angry faces anymore XD

Eunice's fav words:
What? (act blur)
What the heck!
so cham la like that...
NOOOOO!!!!

Imagine Eunice's voice...

:)

Dodgeball Competition

UCSIDD made it through till quarters only
but...
I see the potential in them and I see the club is growing
I promise that I will do better for the club as I think I kind of screw my own club up
Anyway, the players put a distinct display and they fought till the end and that was what I hoped for the most..
I'm proud of you guys, there wasn't any disappointment for me, everyone tried their best and there shouldn't be any regrets!

We'll come back again SOOOOON!!!
And next time, we will also set up our own dodgettes, worst, I become the dodgettes and the laughing stock. hey, RM5k man! Who doesn't want? Anyone joining me??haha...

UCSIDD simply just rox! And thank you for everyone's support, appreciate it!!

p.s.: apology for all the shoutings, quite crazy and mad yesterday haha..apologize to wai tat too for giving so much trouble..we gave the opponent a real bad impression cause we shouted and argued too much and the commentator had to keep reminding that this is a friendly game, we're here to have fun..

People who came to audition before...

While I was scanning through the existing profiles to search for extras, I accidently found out that there were quite a few surprises:
1. Pietro from Hitz FM
2. Mas from Akademi Fantasia 1
3. Belinda Chee from 8tv
4. Elina Isa, my previous football teammate (apparently she is not willing to sacrifice her futsal training every weekends 2-4pm)
and there were a few more quite well known people
probably you might not know them, but there is this person, I believe most SSLAA students will know...she is...

NUR HAZLINA

back then she was still a student aged 22. She looked exactly the same as now, just that her age is different by now, and I know how old she is..LOL

I called her up...and she got the shock of her life that I get to see her profile, anyway I called her in for casting, cause she said she can sing but up till now she hasn't confirmed yet...she can sing!

Looking forward to see her and I begin to enjoy auditioning people..hahaha

though I had to stay back yesterday night in Damansara for today's work and was left home alone (can't believe I was kind of home alone for the 1st time yesterday, good experience). And though I was left office alone this morning and noon (quite scary), I still kind of like my current job to judge people :)

Anyone interested to be judged by me??I would loved to...

shooting on Monday!!!yay!!

The kid who acted like Ju-On

I've never seen such violent kid before.

He's a Eurasian, his parents are local stars (forgotten what their names are..)- one of them is mixed and one of them is Malay.
He's only 1 and half years old but doesn't look like one,
he has really big eyes, really fair skin or should i call it white,
he has really long curly blonde hair just like ang-moh (that scares me when i first know it's a he and not she, cause I've never seen kids with such long pretty hair before, it's even longer than all my girl friends..apparently his parents want him to look like a rock star, quite sweating..)

Anyway, he's really cute at first sight, but when i started to play with him, his true colors slowly came out. He growled, he made low voices, he hit, he whacked, he threw things which were in his hands (even a lovely teddy bear..heart breaks... )

Eventually i get bruised up by a 1-and-half-years-old kid, can i introduce him to my baby cousin? So that Kaden can be a lil more manly and he could be a bit more gentle?? He loves watching horror films and that says it all. Even the last thing to do after saying goodbye to the teddy bear, is to throw it to the ground then he only walks away satisfyingly...

phew!thank goodness his mom brought him to office just for the interview...next time if u have seen any Ju-On wannabe, that probably could be him!

Judging People for the 1st time...

I'm still at office working...
waiting for the last three talents to finish their casting...
i wonder how long i can last just for audition though it can be fun judging ppl and i wish to criticize some of them haha...
anyway new experience and it's quite cool but only for short term cause i'll get annoyed by ppl who turn up late or cancel the casting last minute which will screw my plan...
and i hated calling so many people and sometimes was forced to speak in Malay which i seriously suck at!

when can i go home???

Mr. B

Mr B called me up today saying:" did you buy apples?"
Me:"Oh ya the rotten ones? Just throw them away..."
"Forgotten to eat huh..."
"No I thought I didn't bring it here"
"Next time if you cannot eat so much then don't buy so much. You'll forget if there's too much food. Also, the fridge is actually quite small so don't buy too many stuff..."
bla bla bla what the crap...

I'm bloody starving now just to wait for your 'lovely' girlfriend to finish baking her cake!No wonder i only can occupy so little of your fridge cause you prefer baking ingredients...

And dear Mr B, don't forget that WE tolerated damn a lot with you so please do not mess with US i mean me ><

Just for your information, if you've no clue what i'm talking about at all, I'm actually referring to the rental payment which smart Mr.B modifies it every second and his damn great and wonderful rules which are so understanding and kind of him.

1. No dogs or cats are allowed in the house- he owns both and another housemate owns one
2. No smoking is allowed in the house- his friends ALWAYS do and i'm not sure about him

And dear Mr B, you left us with an empty room just with a ceiling fan and you charge us freaking RM700 a month but you said you'll help us to do this and that..Am i blind or what cause I don't see any changes since day 1...

The Mr B i'm talking about is apparently my Damansara house owner...great!!!

Cathay Pacific

Help!!!

I hate Cathay Pacific to the max!!
I've been searching for cheap air fares from Japan to Malaysia round trip for dunno how many days and Cathay seems to be the cheapest and the air ticket is only a total of around RM2,500 inclusive of taxes..yay!

but...
today i checked again it has changed to RM6,000 in just half an hour's time!!I wonder how...
I compared both details, they are both the same including the flight numbers and everything..I tried calling to the agency and no bloody human being picked my phone up..the website also kept me waited for hours and i can say it's one of the slowest website i've ever encountered other than my previous stupid blog..

Anyway..
i figure out that maybe if i change my region to Malaysia than the rates will be different. And yes, it's back to RM2,500 and i tried proving myself correct and clicked on Hong Kong as my region, however, the rate is back to the cheap one. WHAT HAPPEN??????????what region i was at that the rate was so expensive??or was that something else?

No one's gonna pick up the damn phone means i've to figure out myself before i drive my supervisor crazy...anyone willing to solve this for me??

hate cathay!!!!!!!making me stress man!!

My very First...

Yesterday...
Was my first time holding an umbrella for almost the whole day (regardless rain or shine and I DON'T use an umbrella when there's sun),
Was my first time speaking Malay for almost the whole day,
Was my first time getting so soaked for almost the whole day,
Was my first time standing for such long hours...

Basically that was my first time following the crews out for shooting
It seems bad but I really had fun though it was quite tiring (I heard people said this was the most relaxing shooting ever...so imagine the real big ones...)
Need to thank my supervisor for giving me this opportunity..
honestly, even a small shooting like this can get a lot of exposure and I WANT MORE!!!!!!

Okla no time to blog, so have to grab every second to post this,
I freaking attempted bloody many times to post this and finally...
Connection sucks like hell or was it computers were all against me?

Anyway...
SHOOTING ROX!!

My new idol

I just joined a fan club yesterday night with my sis and I'm so gonna be her hard core fan!!!Honestly...I see a star in her and hopefully one day she will become one :)

Leon Chong

I can't believe there's someone out there actually say he's cute, he's handsome...

cause most of them disagree and I understand...

but honestly, he's the cutest dog I've seen in my life...

The battle begins...

The battle begins tonight...
Anyone betting??
Pray hard for Arsenal who is struggling with injuries...
2 strike duo are out, the one who often bursts through with pace is doubtful and even the defenders are shaky...
No matter what, may the best team win!
